1. Why eGramSwaraj.org Exists

India is home to over 250,000 Gram Panchayats responsible for administering basic services, local infrastructure, and decentralized development for more than 800 million citizens. In 2020, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched eGramSwaraj (egramswaraj.gov.in) to unify planning, accounting, geo-tagging, and monitoring into a single unified digital ecosystem.

While eGramSwaraj is a revolutionary leap in governance, navigating its multi-layered public reports, Local Government Directory (LGD) codes, Maker/Checker authorization rules, and PFMS accounting heads can be intimidating for village representatives, field functionaries, students, and active citizens.

eGramSwaraj.org was founded as an independent civic-tech knowledge base to demystify these workflows, map complex portal paths into intuitive interactive navigators, and make rural governance data accessible to all.
